The Academy Awards is the end of the marathon of awards season, and this is usually the red carpet where celebrities pull out all the stops with their wardrobe choices. This year the big trends were red, white, and embellished gowns. Here are five of our favorite looks on the red carpet Emma Stone in Elie Saab
Emma Stone has been wearing a lot of black at her appearances lately, so it was nice to see her try something new and pick this chartreuse Elie Saab gown. The beading was done beautifully and the open back and leg slit helped from making it feel too heavy. The best thing about this look though was how comfortable Emma Stone looked wearing it. (more…)
This weekend is Valentine’s Day. If you have a heart, support the American Heart Association.
There are amazing developments and hard work that is being done towards building healthier lives and combating heart and stroke related illnesses.
This past weekend in Philadelphia was the 58th annual Heart Ball. More than 750 people from Philadelphia’s corporate, medical, pharmaceutical, and social communities were in attendance to help raise money to benefit the AHA. A silent and live auction, dinner and entertainment took place at the Marriott Hotel in Center City.
Cathie from BG Productions was on hand again to capture some amazing pictures of the attendees who came out to support such an important cause. She did an incredible job as you can see from the gallery below, and I’m so thankful she came along for the event!
Last week was Paris Haute Couture Week, when designers bring out the show-stopping pieces.
Haute Couture is the designing and crafting of high-quality, one of a kind pieces. To be considered an official couture member, designers have to meet certain requirements including a full-time atelier in Paris with no less than 20 staff members who are present at least twice a year, a minimum of 75 designs to be shown each year, and be available for personal fittings. It’s somewhat a dying industry because of the strict stipulations on what is considered couture and the costs of having a couture label.
How this applies to me: Haute Couture reminds us that fashion is a form of art and the way we put ourselves together is also the way we brand ourselves to the world. Putting on sweats to run errands without giving any thought to the fit, the function, or the details and accessories tells the world something totally different than actually putting forth effort.
What do you want to look like everyday?
Life is too short not to LOVE how you’re showing up.
To help inspire you, we’ve rounded up three of our favorite collections from Haute Couture Week.
1. Elie Saab Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2015
For his collection, Elie Saab used his personal life to inspire him. Pictures from his parents as children and from his own childhood in 1960’s Beirut—which he has called Beirut’s “golden age”—meant a collection of embroidered gowns and interesting silhouettes, like a sheer tulle jumpsuit.
How this applies to me: Choose pieces that are a little more delicate, like a sheer top or something made from lace. Even little touches like wearing jewelry can make all the difference.
